West Coast premiership teammates Steven Armstrong and Darren Glass were re-united as Perth Football Club celebrated the announcement of Armstrong as the Demons’ new captain and Glass as the Demons’ No.1 ticket holder.

Glass, the current Eagles captain and a dual All-Australian player, was a part of the 2006 Eagles premiership side alongside Armstrong.
The Demons broke some new ground by appointing a current-day player as its prized No.1 ticket holder. Making the decision to appoint Glass to the honorary role was an easy one for new Demons chief executive officer Brian Leys.
“We chose Darren to take the post as No.1 ticket holder because he was recruited from Northam in our country zone and he remains a strong supporter of the Perth Football Club even though he is dedicated full-time to captaining West Coast,” Leys said.
“He was very keen to stay involved with Perth and has always taken an interest in the club. He has a high profile as the Eagles Captain and we were thrilled when he accepted the gesture of officially being our No. 1 fan.
“Darren is a fantastic ambassador for football.”
As for Armstrong, his appointment as captain of the Demons was also an easy decision for the club.
The 26-year-old is part of a long line of family tradition at the Demons. Grandfather Ken was a player, captain and premiership coach of the Demons, while father Gary also played then coached the Demons.
Armstrong takes the reins as captain from Troy Cook. Cook is still playing this year.
“Steven is of the highest character as a person and a player,” Leys said.
“He is a true Perth boy who started his career at Perth before being drafted to play with Melbourne. Then he was traded to West Coast and when he was delisted by them at the end of 2008 he resisted the temptation of offers from other WAFL clubs to stick by the Demons.
“He has a huge desire to see the Perth Football Club become successful again and he is very well respected by everyone at the club.”
