Morrison Government Commit $4m to Lathlain Park Redevelopment
In an announcement at Lathlain Park this morning, Federal Member of Parliament Steve Irons has announced a $4 million commitment to the redevelopment of the Perth Football Club’s Lathlain Park facilities.
Constructed 60 years ago, the facilities have long passed their use by date. The new facility will allow the Perth Football Club to sustain current football and community programs, while enabling a greater level of community engagement.
“The project is all about ensuring our local kids have the local facilities they need to get out there, get involved and enjoy the best of what sport has to offer,” MP Steve Irons stated in his announcement.
“Having clubs like the Perth Football Club around helps kids in the community develop a sense of belonging.”
The Lathlain Redevelopment Project was initiated by the late Club President Vince Pendal, with Perth Football Club President Daryle Mann and Chief Executive Officer Marty Atkins continuing the legacy of commitment to the Club’s sustainability and increasing community engagement.
The Perth Football Club facilities are used by local community and sporting groups. This is the first step to building a world-class facility for the local community now, and for generations to come. The project is set to localise and enhance the reach of the Club.
The Club is committed to commencing new community programs that will generate greater community participation and socialisation.
“This is an important project for the entire community,” West Coast Eagles Football Club CEO Trevor Nesbitt stated.
“The Perth Football Club would like to express our sincere appreciation to Steve Irons for his continued efforts and this milestone commitment to the Perth Football Club,” PFC President Daryle Mann stated.
