Jones to stand aside, Yeo to take the helm

Wednesday, February 20, 2019 - 11:27 AM

Club Captain Clint Jones has advised that he will be stepping aside from his role as Captain.

In his two years as Captain, CJ lead the playing group by example, acting with integrity at every point. He has greatly contributed to the development of the future leadership of the Club and played a pivotal role in developing the solid culture of the current playing group.

In a statement to the Club, CJ stated that now is the right time to step back from leadership and enjoy what may be his last years playing footy without the responsibility of captaincy.

“There are an exciting group of vibrant, young leaders pushing up, so it is the ideal time to hand over the reins,” CJ commented.

“Handing over to Yeo is a great progression, and he will be a solid leader of the group. He is thoroughly supported by Eyresy, Lachie, Cody and the other boys. The guys have been driving the preseason hard.”

On behalf of the Football Department, coaching staff, playing group and entire club, thank you for your leadership, Clint.

After just one year with the Perth Football Club, Yeo commented "I am honoured to be voted as 2019 Captain by the footy department, but especially by the players.

"It's an exciting time at the Club. I'm looking forward to a solid season. It is has been a privelege to have a player of CJ's calibre as Captain, and I am honoured to be taking the reins while still having him playing alongside the boys on the fiield."
