WA Football Volunteer of the Year Nominations

Do you know someone who works tirelessly for their football club, someone that goes above and beyond for the cause, someone that would like to go to the AFL Grand Final?

Well now’s your chance to nominate that person for The Sunday Times WA Football Volunteer of the Year Award.

Criteria for selection is as follows
a) Must have given notable voluntary service to Australian Football.
b) Must be a willing voluntary contributor, having received no income from football (NB Honoraria accepted).
c) Must be an ambassador for the game of football who acts and works for the best interest of the game, never bringing the game into disrepute.

In 2014 a volunteer from each of the 17 Football Districts and Regions will be awarded and receive two tickets to the Sandover Medal where the overall 2014 WA Football Volunteer of the Year will be announced.

The overall winner of The Sunday Times WA Football Volunteer of the Year Award will receive a trip for two to the 2014 AFL Grand Final, including flights, accommodation and tickets to the Grand Final breakfast function.

This week’s nominee is Scott Thompson who is an umpire in the Demons District.  Scott has been an umpire since 2006 and in this time has officiated in six Grand Finals in various grades.  Scott was the President of the Umpires Association during 2011-13 and this year took over as the Modified Rules Umpire Coach.  Scott is a highly regarded umpire who was recognised in 2011 with the Umpire of the Year Award.
