Clem Smith Attends 2014 AFL National Draft Combine

This week young men from across Australia will descend upon Melbourne for the 2014 AFL National Draft Combine.

 

The players will undertake testing and interviews at Etihad Stadium from Tuesday September 30 to Friday October 3 including fitness assessments, psychomotor testing, medical screening and skills tests.  To attend the NAB AFL National Draft Combine, players must be nominated by at least five AFL clubs.

 

West Australians have been highly successful in breaking Draft Combine records.  From the major tests conducted at the AFL Draft Combine, West Australians hold four of the eight National records.

 

·        Stephen Hill (Fremantle / West Perth) - Agility 7.77sec

·        Laine Wilkins (Peel Thunder) - Matthew Lloyd Clean Hands Test & Nathan Buckley Kicking Test 29/30

·        Nic Naitanui (West Coast / Swan Districts) - Running Vertical Jump 102cm

 

The only representitive from the Perth District is Clem Smith.  Smith played 10 games for Perth this season averaging 15.5 disposals a game.

Energetic Small Defender/Midfielder who can break the game open with his ferocious attack on the ball and dash from the contest.  The way he hunts the opposition defensively is a highlight.  All-Australian in 2013, he averaged 17 disposals (8.2 contested) in six matches at the 2014 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.  Member of the NAB AFL Academy.
