Demons Almost Snatch Victory
South Fremantle has been able to hold off a courageous Perth fight back in the final term to win by 10-points.
The Demons kicked five unanswered goals in the last quarter but it wasn’t enough as they went down 12.13 (85) to 11.9 (75).
Perth perhaps will lament what could have been after wasting several opportunities in the first half where they could only produce one goal. However the team’s second half performance gave the fans something to look forward to and showed that the team can be competitive in 2015.
Perth were well served by Aidan Tropiano (33 possessions, 6 marks) who continued his strong start to the year, Dene White (35 disposals), Brett Wolfenden (24 possessions) and Liam McKenna (24 disposals, 7 tackles, 7 I50).
It was also pleasing to see young players such as Cody Leggett, Daniel Arangio and Ben Power step up when needed. Leggett and Arangio combined for five goals while Power performed strongly in the ruck in the absence of Christian Eyres.
One concern for the Demons though is Jarryd Morton who appears to have injured his quad. This could potentially see him miss a couple of weeks.
Next week Perth takes on a West Perth side buoyant from their 7-point win over a strong Peel Thunder team.
