Demons Welcome Spencer White

Wednesday, December 2, 2015 - 9:00 AM

The Perth Football Club has signed former St. Kilda key forward Spencer White. The 21 year old, originally from the Western Jets was drafted by the Saints in 2012 after kicking 36 goals from 12 games in the TAC Cup. He spent three seasons with St. Kilda and made his debut in 2014 against Richmond at Etihad Stadium where he kicked three memorable goals. Standing 196cm, White has an abundant amount of raw athletic potential. He kicked one of the goals of the season in the VFL in 2013. Playing for St. Kilda’s aligned club Sandringham, White broke away after taking a mark on the wing and bounced four times before finishing on his left foot from thirty metres out.

Perth’s Football Operations Manager Tyson Beattie says the signing is a critical part of the Demons recruiting drive this offseason. “We were determined to sign a really quality key forward, we knew that it was an area we had to improve in order to hit the scoreboard next year and give more opportunities for our small forwards to kick goals., Beattie says. “Spencer is an extremely gifted footballer. His skills are excellent, his speed for a big man is elite and he will have great opportunities on our big grounds to find space in the forward line.” White is the second Saint turned Demon in the past month with former star midfielder Clinton Jones agreeing to join Perth recently. “With Angus, Clint and Spencer joining we have added some outstanding ability to our group.” Beattie says. Graham has already joined the team while White and Jones will arrive in Perth soon. Preseason training will break for Christmas on December 18 when the club hosts its Members Christmas Function.
