A seven goals to two first term for Peel Thunder set them up in their 77-point victory over the Perth Demons on Saturday afternoon at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

The young Demons, who were coming off a hard-fought 44-point loss to East Perth last week, won the third term but couldn’t crawl their way back into the contest after trailing by 52-points at half-time.

Round 7 Preview Perth vs Peel Thunder

Wednesday, April 27, 2016 - 10:00 AM - by Andrew Owen

After showing signs of improvement last week against East Perth the Demons will be looking to play four whole quarters when they take on Peel Thunder at Bendigo Bank Stadium this Saturday.

Perth threatened to cause an upset against the Royals last weekend and got to within 15-points when Callum Walley kicked truly at the 22nd minute mark of the last quarter.

However a goal to Patrick McGinnity courtesy of a 50m penalty seemed to deflate the Demons spirit and East Perth then kicked four unanswered goals in the last eight minutes to runaway with the match and win by 44-points.

Royals hold off Demons in ANZAC clash

Monday, April 25, 2016 - 9:37 AM - by Matthew Dower

EAST Perth’s eight goals to four last quarter proved the difference on Saturday, as Perth went down by 44 points at Lathlain Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Demons were keen to make amends after a 98-point hiding at the hands of South Fremantle from last weekend, looking to get off the bottom of the ladder with a win over the Royals who went in on the back of consecutive wins.

100 Up For Wolfenden

Friday, April 22, 2016 - 12:00 PM - by Andrew Owen

There is plenty to play for this weekend when Perth takes on East Perth at Lathlain Park.  Not only will the Demons be looking to address some poor performances over the last fortnight with a solid showing against the Royals but this match will also see Brett Wolfenden play his 100th WAFL league game.

Wolfy as he is affectionately known around the club made his league debut for his first WAFL Club, Swan Districts back in round five, 2008.  Swans were able to hold off a fast finishing West Perth team that day to record a five-point win with Wolfenden collecting 21 possessions and kicking two goals.

Wolfenden would go on to play 76 games over the next four seasons, including the 2010 premiership.  At the end of the 2011 season he decided to go back and play amateurs, firstly for High Wycombe and then Swan Athletic.  However a desire to return to a higher level of football saw him return to the WAFL in 2015 with Perth.

Round 6 Preview Perth vs East Perth

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 - 10:00 AM - by Andrew Owen

Perth will be looking to put last week’s dismal display behind them when they take on East Perth this weekend.

The Demons were outclassed all over the ground against the Bulldogs, losing by 98-points in a game where the club honoured the 50th anniversary of the 1966 premiership team.  That followed a 50-point defeat the week before against the Lions.

Remarkably Perth had more inside 50’s than South Fremantle, 48 to 47.  It was a similar case the week before with the Demons only narrowly having less inside 50’s against Subiaco, 56 to 53.

The Royals have started to show over the last two weeks the form that had many tipsters predicting them to finish high up the ladder.  They have beaten Peel Thunder by five goals and easily accounted for rivals West Perth by 60-points.  If East Perth 14.16 (100) had kicked straight against the Falcons 6.4 (40) they could have won by more.

Bulldogs Fast Start Too Much for Demons

Monday, April 18, 2016 - 8:28 AM - by Matthew Dower

South Fremantle’s first quarter goal blitz set the tone in their victory over Perth on Saturday, as the second-placed Bulldogs prevailed 21.10 (136) to 4.14 (38)

The Bulldogs, yet to lose a match this season, made the Demons pay for their errors with some impressive goal-kicking and running off the half-back line.

Perth, who were coming off a six-day break after a 49-point loss at the hands of Subiaco, were without skipper Dene Read More [+]
