1. Barry first time we have spoken to you this year so let’s go back to the end of last season.  How big was the player turnover at the end of 2014?

This was something that we focussed on fairly heavily last year.  We had roughly a third of the playing group graduating to seniors, a third of the playing group stay and a third of the group comprising of new players.  It wasn’t as big as it was the year before.

1. How has the preseason been?

Preseason has been pretty tough.  Earl has been cracking the whip to make sure that we are fit because we were lacking a bit of fitness last year.  His main focus has been to get the kilometres in our legs early.  It has been the toughest preseason I have done that’s for sure.

1. Frank in what condition did the players come back to training after the Christmas break?  I remember you saying that they all had a program to follow.

I was pretty happy with how the conditioning of the players was for majority of the group.  You could tell that they had been working on their game and their fitness while they were away so it was good to the vast majority come back in relatively good condition.  I know that it was Christmas and everyone likes to let their hair down a little bit but I think most of the players stuck to the guidelines and came back in pretty good condition.

1. Earl how would you rate the preseason overall?

It’s been productive I think in terms of the work that the guys have done.  There have been a few that have not got the full volume of work in for varying reasons but the majority of them have worked pretty hard.

The Perth Football Club would like to wish our Captain, Dene White, all the best when he takes to the field this Saturday against Swan Districts.  The match will see White play his 100th WAFL game and will also see him lead out the team for the first time as captain.

Since White has returned to the Demons from his 2012 sabbatical with the fire academy, his game as gone to a new level.  In two seasons he has not missed a match, won his first Butcher Medal last year and now in his eighth season at Perth will captain the club.

With the start of the McDonalds WAFL Premiership Season this weekend the Past Players & Officials Association are setting themselves for a big year, both on and off the field.

The PP&OA are a significant part of the Perth Football Club.  “I keep reminding everybody to spread the word and attend our functions as best they can as one of our main roles is fundraising towards the Perth Football Club in general and also the juniors”, said PP&OA President Wayne Koch.
