WAFLW - Perth FC

The Perth Football Club is excited to commence its involvement in the WAFLW. The 10 year strategic plan outlines an ambitious aim of entering a PFC Rogers Cup team in 2023 and further establishing ourselves with a WAFLW league team in the future.

Our first females joined the girl’s Academy on Sunday the 22nd May and the players have been presented with their jumpers to commemorate the occasion.  The Academy program and uniform is sponsored by McMahon, Fugro, Hungry Jacks and ID fleet hire

As a club, our goal is to develop a pathway for women of all ages, providing similar opportunities that the men currently enjoy.  Our programs aim to develop elite players with the technical skills required to play competitive football, while ensuring they become empowered, confident and compassionate individuals, both on and off the field.

What we have done so far:

Facilitated program with Penrhos College

Announced in September 2021

  • Secondary students participated in PFC coached training sessions.
  • The partnership helped promote the progression of the IGSSA AFLW competition with Penrhos entering teams in all competitions in Term 1, 2023
  • Encouraging students to nominate for Junior Football Clubs within the PFC zone.

Academy program commenced

  • Players nominated by District community clubs, Penrhos college and the PFC TID network were invited to participate in the inaugural Academy.
  • Sunday sessions have focused on developing skills.
  • Strength and conditioning is being provided by our partner Diamond Fitness.

What’s in store for the rest of 2022:

Club Development Squad

  • In early August our Academy players will move into the WAFC Development squad program.
  • The program will be led by Gavin Outridge and provide junior players in our District with an opportunity to further develop their skills and play against other WAFL development squads in the October school holidays.

We plan to continue to build our presence in WAFLW and are very excited for this new era for the Perth Football Club.
