Round 4 Preview Perth vs Subiaco
The Demons will be looking to make it back to back wins for the first time since 2014 when they face a red hot Subiaco this Sunday.
After a slow start last week against Claremont, Perth kicked 12 goals to six after quarter time to win by 17-points.
The Lions on the other hand easily accounted for West Perth beating them by 43-points.
The reserves last week was a closely fought encounter with the Demons going down by 16-points.
In his first game since round 11 last year Jarrad Irons had 25 possessions as he looks to build a run of games together and hopefully push for league selection while Fraser Millar had 24, Corey Byrne 22, six tackles and a goal, Shaun Crane 21, six marks and four goals, Marshall Jones 20, six marks and Guy Piggott kicked five goals.
A four goal to two last quarter saw Perth snatch a narrow 2-point victory in the colts to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact.
The Demons will need to replicate the pressure and attack on the football that they demonstrated against the Tigers when they come up against a slick and disciplined Subiaco outfit at Medibank this weekend.
The task is made even tougher with the news that ruckman Christian Eyres has suffered a Posterior Cruciate Ligament injury to his knee and looks set to miss the next 6-8 weeks. Key backman David Johnston was also on crutches after the Claremont game and will miss at least the next six weeks with an ankle injury.
The Lions have won the past six encounters against Perth with an average winning margin of 67-points. The last time the Demons won against Subiaco was back in round 17, 2013 when they defeated the Lions by 26-points.
Bounce down is 3:10pm, following Reserves at 12:25pm and Colts at 9:55am while the Robert Wiley Foundation XVI’s will be playing at 7:55am.
