FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT UPDATE

Friday, October 15, 2021 - 11:32 AM

TREVOR WILLIAMS- FOOTBALL MANAGER

After a typically tough pre season and a promising start to the home and away season, with a win against West Coast Eagles WAFL all seemed on track to follow up on a successful 2020 season. And as we progressed into the season we were sitting in positive win/loss territory after an exciting win against WP in round 8: 4 wins and 3 losses. Unfortunately from this point our season fell apart, from a League perspective, losing the next 11 games. To finish 4-14 was not acceptable, and injuries aside, there is a clear mandate that we need to be fitter and stronger, with more resilient bodies in 2022.

A very encouraging component of season 2021 was the Grand Final win of our reserves team. Congratulations again to Panetts, his assistants and all the players on a fantastic achievement. Many of the young players will take this valuable experience into their preparation for 2022.

The pre season schedule has already been shared with all players, exit interviews completed and players have an off season program to complete in readiness for our 2022 season starting point on 29th November.

We look forward to seeing you in 2022.

TREVOR SCREAIGH- TALENT  MANAGER

Through what has been a challenging year for our Colts team it was fantastic to see that the Reserves team win the premiership. Many of the players in that successful team have progressed through the Colts program over the past few seasons. Hopefully the Colts players from this year who were a very young group, can continue to show the resilience they produced this season and continue to develop not only physically but also in terms of football skill and knowledge to help the Club keep transitioning quality young players through our programs as we strive for more success.
