Bachar Houli Foundation Visits Perth
On Tuesday the 24th of May, the Perth Football Club was privileged to join former AFL premiership player Bachar Houli and the Bachar Houli Foundation at the Australian Islamic College, Kewdale.
The Bachar Houli Foundation travelled from Melbourne to deliver a school assembly followed by a football clinic for students. The Bachar Houli Foundation works to ‘foster community harmony and provide development opportunities for young Muslim people through sports.’ The program has reached more than 35,000 people and has taken massive strides in promoting community harmony and mutual understanding through sport.
Reflecting on the day, “The feedback from teachers and students was positive in that they felt some of the discussions were important for young people to know they can achieve whatever they want in life while also holding their values and identity," Houli said.
The Bachar Houli Foundation will look to work closely with the WAFL commission to engage the community to help deliver initiatives target Muslim youth in WA – an opportunity which the Perth Football Club is eager to embrace.
