Introducing The Demons Den
The Pig Pen has long been a place for Perth Football Club members and supporters to enjoy a cold beer and barrack for their team.
However in changing with modern times and wanting to create a more family friendly atmosphere the club believes that the ‘Demons Den’ is better suited to describe where our loyal members and supporters come to get their footy fix.
“We are trying to create an image for the club where families with children can come and enjoy an afternoon of football, be able to sit on the green grassy banks and embrace the atmosphere that surrounds Lathlain Park on match day,” advised Perth Football Club Bar and Functions Manager Ryan Keatley.
“We want to create a better environment for everyone, one which promotes the cheering, the banter and general supportive behaviours, whilst still being considerate of others, free of anti-social behaviour.”
Demons Chief Executive Marty Atkins agrees. “We have worked hard over the last few years to present a better match day for all to enjoy – the bike raffles, the running races, little league games are all about bringing kids and families to the game. Unfortunately on a few occasions last year the family friendly atmosphere was tarnished as a result of anti-social behaviour from the ‘pig pen’ area, which is not acceptable”.
“Changing the name, changing the expectations will change people’s behaviours.”
“We have to remember these supporters have been and will continue to be an important part of the club, not only financially contributing to the club’s profits, but more importantly their support of the players, especially after a good win”.
