Second Half Comeback gets Demons on the Board

Monday, April 4, 2016 - 9:00 AM - by Matthew Dower

Inspired performances from midfielders Liam McKenna, Clinton Jones and Julian Jacobs helped the Demons record their first win for 2016, defeating Claremont by 17 points at Lathlain Park on Saturday afternoon.

Perth came back from a 22-point deficit at quarter-time, and kicked four of the last five goals to get over the Tigers 14.11 (95) to 12.6 (78).

After going down to West Perth by 41 points last week, the Demons stole the ascendency when the game was up for grabs due to the efforts of Jones (29 disposals), McKenna (28 and  two goals), Julian Jacobs (28), and Brennan Stack (three goals).

Perth were made to work for the win, after struggling to find composure and maintain high disposal efficiency in the first term.

Introducing The Demons Den

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 - 10:00 AM - by Andrew Owen

The Pig Pen has long been a place for Perth Football Club members and supporters to enjoy a cold beer and barrack for their team.

However in changing with modern times and wanting to create a more family friendly atmosphere the club believes that the ‘Demons Den’ is better suited to describe where our loyal members and supporters come to get their footy fix.

“We are trying to create an image for the club where families with children can come and enjoy an afternoon of football, be able to sit on the green grassy banks and embrace the atmosphere that surrounds Lathlain Park on match day,” advised Perth Football Club Bar and Functions Manager Ryan Keatley.

Round 3 Preview Perth vs Claremont

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 - 10:00 AM - by Andrew Owen

After a wet and scrappy game against West Perth last week Perth will be looking to secure their first win of the season against a Claremont team who was very impressive against East Perth back in round one.

The Demons were gallant against the Falcons and got within a goal early in the last quarter but their opposition lifted when it mattered kicking five straight goals to run out 41-point winners.

Perth was hampered by injuries to Aidan Tropiano in the first half and some undisciplined acts that resulted in goals to West Perth.  Clint Jones battled manfully with 46 possessions despite having his left hamstring heavily strapped in the second half.  Dene White also appeared to injure an ankle but played out the remainder of the game.

Demons Fall Short in the Wet

Tuesday, March 29, 2016 - 9:04 AM - by Matthew Dower

Perth’s quest for a winning start to the season was quashed on Saturday afternoon with a 41-point defeat at the hands of West Perth at HBF Arena.

Despite the productive 46 possession effort by recruit Clint Jones, the Demons couldn’t match the momentum the Falcons gained in the second and fourth quarters  to claim a 12.12 (84) to 6.7 (43) victory in wet conditions.

The Demons lead by a point at quarter-time and pushed their lead out to nine points at the seven-minute mark of the second term when 17-year old debutant Zac Fisher kicked his first goal in league football.

Demons Looking To Improve In 2016

Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 10:30 AM - by Andrew Owen

It hasn’t been a great last couple of years for Perth.  Having only been able to notch five wins from 40 games the Demons have been aggressive on the recruiting front, in a bid to try and play finals for the first time in 18 seasons.

League Coach Earl Spalding pin-pointed a lack of experience in the playing group at the end of last season and this is something he and the football department have looked to address in the offseason.

“We identified last year we were a very young group and even some of our senior players hadn’t played a lot of senior footy really.”
