Round 22, Perth v Swan Districts

Steel Blue Oval

Saturday, 21 August 2010

Perth 2.2          5.4       11.6            16.8            104

Swan Districts        8.5          15.9      20.11          25.16          166

Swan Districts continued their push towards this years finals series with a comfortable 62 point win over Perth at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Kicking with the advantage of the breeze in the first term the Black and Whites were on the board early through the dangerous Tim Geappen. Swans were full of run early on and had 4 goals on the board before Perth had even scored.

Finally the Phoenix Demons brought up their first major through Simon Horner, who converted from a set shot. The home side led well by the tough Josh Roberts were on top all over the ground and scoring goals at will.

Perth did manage a late goal from the crumbing Dene White, who led his side out in his 50th game. At quarter time Swans after a great first term led 8 goals 5 to 2 goals 2.

The second term was much of the same for Perth as they simply had no match in defence for Geappen and the size and bulk of Ashley Hansen. Some good team football saw Horner bring up another goal for the visitors and this was soon followed by youngster Matthew Rogers

Congratulations - Jaeger and Chris

Well done to Jaegar and Chris on being selected in the AIS Squad for 2010. This continues Perth Football Club’s  progress from last year when Gerald Ugle and Max Duffy  represented Australia in 2009.

It is  well deserved achievement for both and gives credit to their hard work and development as a footballer and individual.

State 16’s Coach Jon Sharp gave glowing reports on both players following the State 16’s Program-

“Jaeger has a very mature and professional approach to his football. He has responded well to advice given by coaching staff and was an important member of the WA Academy. Jaeger’s performance throughout the program has been excellent and he has continued to develop as a player. Even when injured at the National carnival he continued to contribute to the team performance. His quiet manner, work ethic and ability to learn will place him in good position to take his football to a higher level.”

“Chris is a very talented athlete and footballer.. He is a valued member of the Academy and will continue to improve. His impact at the National carnival was excellent and is a credit to his development as a player and individual.”

Quality assured for Perth District football clubs

TWO junior football clubs from the Perth District have become the first in the State to receive Gold Accreditation in the West Australian Football Commission’s Quality Club Program.

Maddington and South Perth Junior Football Clubs have both achieved Gold accreditation in the Quality Club Program, which provides an opportunity for all community football clubs in WA to achieve a minimum standard of club administration.

Clubs can achieve the three levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold, with Bronze representing a base level commitment to providing a quality club environment for players, spectators, parents, coaches and umpires.

Club Presidents said the Quality Club Program had provided clubs with the opportunity to become more organized and more structured, and ensured all volunteers had an improved understanding of their roles and the future direction of the club.

South Perth JFC will also be teaming up with the South Perth City Council this weekend to host a free sausage sizzle as part of a joint Neighbourhood Watch promotion from 9.30am to 11am on Sunday, July 25.
