Round 8 Preview Perth vs Swan Districts
Perth will be looking to bounce back this week when they take on Swan Districts who are coming off a bye.
Last week Peel Thunder were bolstered by the inclusion of 13 Fremantle listed players proved too strong for the Demons as they ran out 77-point winners.
The Thunder kicked seven goals to two in the first quarter which set up their big win. This continued a trend of opposition teams getting a fast start against Perth this season.
In the opening six games of the season the Demons have conceded 25 goals in the first quarter while only managing to kick five goals themselves. In three of those six games Perth have not been able to kick any goals and have been held scoreless once.
Swans are in a similar boat when it comes to slow starts. In their six games this season they have conceded 14 goals in the opening quarter while only kicking eight themselves and have been held goalless once.
The reserves last week notched up their first win of the season beating Peel by 53-points.
Kieran Hug (29 possessions, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 6 I50’s), Rowan Brookes (29, 11 marks, 6 tackles, 6 I50’s, 2 goals), Jarrad Irons (28, 6 marks, 4 I50’s, 3 goals) and Guy Piggott (6 goals) all performed strongly and could come under consideration for selection this weekend.
The colts continued their strong start to the season defeating the Thunder by 40-points. The Demons remain undefeated on top of the table and will take on the second placed Swan Districts in what will be the match of the round this weekend.
Bounce down is 2:40pm, following Reserves at 11:30am and Colts at 9am.
