Banksia Hill Program Extension
The Perth Football Club is now entering our third year of working with the Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre. With the program continuing to achieve positive results, Banksia Hill have committed to extending the program for another year.
As part of our commitment to growing and enhancing our local community, the Perth Football Club is dedicated to working with Banksia Hill to achieve our mutual objectives. Funding from the program goes toward funding our Aboriginal Engagement Officer (AEO), while also allowing for football to be used as a tool for achieving community objectives.
This program allows our AEO to go to Banksia Hill each week to run three football sessions. One session is run with young sentenced men and another session with young men in remand. New to 2019 is the third session, which will see the inclusion of females in the program.
The work in Banksia Hill is centred on instilling the values of discipline, respect and commitment within the participants, with the goal that when they move on to the next stage of their life they carry those values with them.
