Lathlain To Host Some Big Games In 2015
The fixtures for the 2015 McDonalds WAFL Premiership Season were finalised last week and there are some big games for the Perth Football Club to look forward to this year.
Some of the blockbuster games the Demons will be playing in will be when they host East Perth on ANZAC Day in round six and their now annual NAIDOC game against West Perth in round 16.
Chief Executive Officer Marty Atkins is happy that the club was able to play majority of their matches on the traditional Saturday afternoon format.
“We know that our members and supporters all love a Saturday afternoon at the football and nine out of our ten home games are on a Saturday afternoon which is fantastic for us.”
One of the negatives about the fixtures though is that between rounds eight and twelve the Demons do not play at home. However this is offset by the club for the first time in their history hosting the State Game between Western Australia and South Australia.
“The home, away, home, away format was definitely attempted to be considered first and as you can see our first are that way.”
“Unfortunately it was our turn to have the double bye. What I mean by the double bye is that we a have a normal bye and then the State Game. There was no getting away from this and also it just happens that we have three away games either side of this.”
“However I think the fact that Lathlain gets to host a State Game for the first time in its history is a fantastic promotion for the club.”
With the first game of the new broadcast rights deal with channel seven being played at Domain Stadium, Perth’s round two encounter against South Fremantle will be the first game televised at a WAFL venue.
“The fact that it will be broadcast on channel seven will be fantastic for the Perth Football Club sponsors and supporters.”
